Hi,
I am thinking this dream is possibly about a fear of becoming autonomous/independent/alone. It appears family is important and have been a steady influence - in particular your father - he can be relied upon in any crisis. The dream suggests you and your family rely heavily on his ability to "steer the ship" however in doing so he may assume too much control to the point that he has not enabled you to help yourself? In other words, you rely on him to the point that when a crisis hits and he has to assume a position to look take control, you are left waiting for someone to rescue you?
