Dream Interpretation: Trip to the River

Visitor's Dream: 'I am with an acquaintance I once cared for very much and we are meeting after 8 years of separation. We are driving along an Australian country road where the landscape is a browny-green colour and the sky is hazy with bushfire smoke - very much a favourite landscape of ours. We are happily talking when he asks me where I was when he first came to visit me. I told him I was on a driving trip. We come towards a river and he drives onto a parking spot overlooking the river. To my surprise, he doesnt stop and drives the car off into the river. Knowing I was going to drown, I leaned over and kissed him on the cheek. "Great, don't kiss me back or anything since we're going to drown." I told him. He replied with "We're not going to drown. You'll see." The car hit the water...it ended there. There's nothing happening in my life right now that I could attribute this dream to.'

Hey,
Can you tell me what the feeling was when you said , "Great, don't kiss me back or anything since we're going to drown."
Also, when he asks you where you were and you reply on a "driving trip" can you elaborate a little?
Finally, what is the feeling when he tells you that you aren't going to drown?

Emotions didn't really register. Resignation would be the best description. I wasn't angry, hurt or scared.
As for the driving trip, it was a short trip away, but i didn't know where. I did feel satisfied with that trip, like it was planned and I enjoyed it.

thanks for getting back to me.
I think this dream is about recognition of how good your relationship was with this man. I perceive he offered you things you feel may not have been fulfilled in later life. There seems to be an understanding between you both that implies a connectedness beyond what you have now come to know as "normal".
I believe the kiss is about wanting to know where you stand with this man now. Whether you are in his thoughts. The end part where the car hits the water after he suggests you will be fine, to me, is symbolic of a wondering you may have as to what your life might have been like had you remained together.

You're right about me wondering if I've been in his thoughts. After 8 years of not having anything to do with him and being at ease with that, he's been disturbing my sleep! Haha.
